Becky Jo Sowers
Hello!
My name is Becki Jo Sowers, Director of Crossroads Foundation. Born in
Ohio, I was raised in Charleston, West Virginia. I graduated early from
high school in 1983
to avoid getting into trouble and heading in the wrong direction.
I attended college in Athens, Ohio from 1983-1987. My degree is
in Child Development
and Family Communications with a minor in Psychology.
I moved to Georgia in 1987 after graduation and a lame attempt at graduate
school. I have
two sisters and both were living here. Now they are married and
live in Suwanee. My oldest sister, Debbie, helps me with the detailed
items of Crossroads
such as paperwork and banking. My middle sister has the great
responsibility of raising the two most precious nieces any aunt could
ask. I am one
of the few whose parents are still married. Weezer and Pat (Mom
and Dad) live in West Palm Beach, Florida. April 18, 2009 marks their 50th
anniversary!
I
worked in sales for about 15 years, primarily in the staffing industry with TRC
Staffing Services. I left Corporate
America in January 2003 to work on creating more programs for teens and a better
place for animals.
After many years of toying with the idea of becoming a foster parent I decided
to give it a try. I enjoy being a parent and helping kids see
things in a different light. I have had 43 foster children from ages 27 days to 18 years.
I created the Winds of Change program through my experience
with my first foster daughter. I am married
to Barry Sowers and now have Maddie and Emmy Lou Sowers who are the the light of
my life!
