Andy Doetsch

Hey!  I was born in New York, raised in South Glens Falls (upstate).  I achieved a BA in Music Education from the State University of New York at Potsdam , an MS-Special Education/Ed. Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany, and various trainings in computer technology.  I am married to the most wonderful woman in the world.  I have two awesome children, Christian (born 1990) and Kayla (1993).   When I married the woman of my dreams in June of 2002, I inherited the coolest step dog, Zoe.  She is a Standard Poodle mix.  We now also have a Standard Poodle named Autumn, as well.  She was born in 2003 and we have had her since she was 6 weeks old.

Career Information

I have been teaching special education since 1984, sixteen years in the elementary school setting and now I have been teaching high school special education since the fall of 2004.  I also taught elementary and high school music.  I co-owned and directed an English Language Playschool in Finland for three years beginning in 1996 before settling back into the Atlanta area.

Interests

I enjoy building websites, teaching various computer technology skills to both children and adults.  I find playing guitar and hiking immensely therapeutic to my soul and have just recently dived into photography.  I love going on different "photo-ops", especially when they involve hiking and camping out!

Background

I have found pleasure in helping to design, build, and now every-so-often update the Crossroads website.   I feel fortunate to assist with the growth of this program through the launching of this website several years ago.

My life mentors and friends have been my parents, Doris and Herb Doetsch. Through their modeling of Christian principles, they taught me a value system from which to build a meaningful life.

Favorite sayings….”Work smarter, not harder” and “In all things give thanks…”
